Nothing beats the happiness of a fresh popsicle enjoyed under the hot summer sun. Ok wait, maybe winning the lottery or holding your first born child does, but try our Dairy Free Dark Chocolate Banana Popsicles and you'll be having second thoughts!
You may be concerned about the amount of fats or sugars that you would be taking on, ruining your summer-proofed body but fear not! As for anything else on Foodaciously, we strive to make the recipe you love healthy and sustainable, so that you can enjoy your favourite food without guilty!
That's why we made our popsicles with only a handful of ingredients: banana and cocoa for the icicle, and a coat of melted dark chocolate and chopped nuts for a tasty and crunchy finish.
So, as long as you don't eat 10 a day (hard, we know), you'll be sporting the loveliest chocolate-stained-smile in town with no regrets whatsoever!
Oh, and if you do love super-healthy recipes like this one, we release two new ones every week! You could receive them conveniently into your inbox.
- Dark Chocolate 85%
- Cashew Nuts
Peel and cut the bananas into chips and place them in a blender. Add the cocoa powder and blitz until the mixture is smooth and has a mousse-like consistency. It has to be runny and dense.
Slowly pour the chocolate banana mixture into a ice suitable mould and insert a wooden stick to serve as handle. Alternatively, if you think you will make this recipe more than once, it may be worth buying a cute, reusable ice lolly mould. Repeat the above step for the other moulds until you have used all the mix.
Freeze the popsicles for at least 3 hours.
Melt the chocolate in a small bowl by placing it in the microwave or in a pan with boiling water for a few minutes. In the meantime, remove the ice pops from their mould. Finely chop the nuts and put them in a little cup. For each ice lolly, dip the tip first in the melted chocolate and then in the nuts and serve.
To remove the popsicles from their moulds, leave them to sit at room temperature until they can be easily pulled out. In alternative, place them in a bowl with warm water for about 20 seconds, remove from the bowl and pull them out.
These popsicles are naturally sweet. If you prefer an even sweeter flavor try to add some honey or maple syrup or simply use very ripe bananas.
