This grapefruit and spirulina lemonade with turmeric recipe is a powerful detox drink that will help you cleanse your body. Its detox properties are the result of a careful selection of ingredients, which allow this lemonade to deliver healthy nutrients to your system and to restore your body to its natural alkaline levels. And the greatest thing is, it's very simple to make and ready in only 15 minutes!

There are different ways to support your body cleansing mechanisms and these include:

To make this detox lemon water, start by preparing the lemon and ginger infusion.

Peel the zest of the lemons, using about half of those needed for the juice.

Peel and chop fresh ginger root and add it to a pan of spring water with the lemon zest.

Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. 

Then allow cooling down for 5 minutes or until the infusion is lukewarm. This way, both the lemon and ginger will release their beneficial chemicals.

Strain the lemon and ginger pieces from the water.

In the meantime, prepare the citrus juices for the lemonade.

Squeeze the lemons and the grapefruit with a manual or electric juicer.

In a carafe, combine the infused filtered water and the citrus juices (1).

Add the turmeric and spirulina powder and stir well until completely dissolved (2).

Refrigerate your detox lemonade for 1 hour before serving.
