For this green smoothie recipe, we carefully selected 6 ingredients according to their alkalizing, cleansing, and nutritional properties. If you're not familiar with the alkaline diet, it's an eating regime that focuses on consuming alkaline-ash forming foods to boost health and avoid disease.

If you imagine your metabolism as a burning fire, the food we eat gets converted or "burned" into energy, leaving behind a metabolic waste or "ash". Acidic residues from meat, dairy, and grains are thought to be related to chronic diseases and changes in bone and muscle mass [1]. On the other hand, foods like fruits and vegetables produce beneficial alkaline "ashes".

Recipe Instructions

Peel the kiwi, melon, cucumber and ginger root.

Chop them into chunks and add them to a food processor together with spinach and lemon juice.

Blitz the ingredients until you have a smooth juice.

You can now pour in a bit of water (or coconut water) to dilute the smoothie if it's too dense for your taste.

Finally, divide the green juice among glasses and enjoy it right away.

Alternatively, transfer it into jars or tight-seal bottles and keep it in the fridge for up to 2 days.
